Stumps and Sprouts
Endings and beginnings. I recently had to move. I had to leave gardens, trees, shrubs I loved for almost 14 years. The sweet new place, is full of promise, but 8 large oak trees were recently cut down by the power company, leaving large stumps around the home. I feel the same raw feeling, but know that we can save our energy, sprout from our roots, and begin again together.
Morning meaderings, the crunch of oak leaves, popping acorns.
This day is a beginning among endings
An oak stump, cut
A perfect place to nest my gatherings
An ending and an opening
Today, I begin anew
Among oak and moss
Morning rays dripping gold
